How to Price Your Course Without Overthinking It

I get this question a lot: How much should I charge for my course? Most people are nervous to get it wrong.

They worry that pricing too high will scare people off, or that pricing too low will make it feel like their work isn’t worth much. And if you’ve never sold something before, this part can feel really personal. Like you’re putting a number on your value.

So let’s take the pressure off. Pricing doesn’t have to be exact. You just need a place to start.

Look at the transformation, not the number of lessons

You’re not selling videos. You’re helping someone solve a problem, take a step, or move forward in some area of their life.

That’s what people are paying for.

Instead of asking “What is this worth per module?” ask:
What is it worth to finally fix the problem this course solves?
Start there.

Is this your core offer or just the beginning?

If you’re using this course to lead people into a bigger program or service, you might price it lower to make it an easy yes. But if this is the main thing you're selling, it needs to be priced in a way that reflects that.

You don’t need to overthink this either. Ask yourself:

  • Is this course part of something bigger?

  • Will students get access to you in any way?

  • How long will they have access to the material?

Simple answers to these questions can help you find your range.

Avoid the comparison spiral

It’s easy to fall into a scroll hole looking at what other people are charging. But what someone else charges has nothing to do with you.

They’re building a different business. You have your own audience, your own goals, and your own way of showing up. Start where you are.

Pick a number that feels fair to you and the people you want to work with.

Still not sure? Try it live.

You can presell your course at a lower rate and raise the price later. Plenty of successful creators do this with their first launch. It lets you test the offer and build it alongside real people, which often results in a stronger course anyway.
